Au Naturale Lotion Bar, Unscented
Au Naturale is an unscented lotion bar with no essential oils added. The beeswax gives it a mild honey scent. A lotion bar is a touch experience, with no added scent in the way.
When a product meets the skin or hair, it creates a mix of touch, warmth, and absorption that the body immediately responds to (McGlone et al., 2014; Field, 2014). Affective touch activates C‑tactile fibers associated with pleasant, calming sensations, and massage‑like pressure reduces muscle stiffness and supports relaxation (Kjær, 2004). Hair care adds its own layer—the glide of oils, the smoothing of fibers, and the calming of the scalp—supported by reduced fiber friction, improved surface smoothness, and decreased mechanical stress (Robbins, 2012; Rele & Mohile, 2003; Swift, 1997; Trüeb, 2009). So not only is the skin and hair cleaner, with reduced surface bacteria and buildup (Bloomfield et al., 2007; Aiello & Larson, 2002), but these interactions also help the body release tension. As that tension drops, people step out of the shower or bath more relaxed, refreshed, and ready to move into the next part of their day.
Finding the right ingredients makes a difference, and every ingredient behaves differently on skin and hair. To see whether these ingredients suit your body, hair and skin, visit my Alchemist Materia Medica Blog.
Essential oils do more than just smell good, and not every oil is right for every person or situation. To see whether these essential oils are the right ones for you, visit my Herbarium Distillate Blog.
Rubbed between the hands, the bar melts off a little at a time. It comes in a tin and fits a pocket or purse.

Note
Visual: Topical interaction paired with visual objects becomes visual‑surface interpretation. Cultures use visual cues because color, shine, and hair movement communicate clarity, vitality, and social meaning (Lakoff, 1987). These practices persist because visual‑care integration strengthens emotional resonance (Juslin & Västfjäll, 2008) and supports recognition and personal identity (Herz, 2016).
Sound and mind: Topical interaction paired with sound and mind objects becomes structured care. Cultural systems use sound because auditory cues organize pacing, rhythm, and ritual timing (Juslin & Västfjäll, 2008). These practices endure because structured sensory input reduces cognitive load (Sweller, 1988) and supports emotional clarity and regulatory reset (Panksepp, 1998).
Aroma: Topical interaction paired with aroma becomes aromatic‑surface experience. Cultures combine botanicals with oils, creams, and hair treatments because aroma carries symbolic meaning, lineage, and spatial identity (Classen, Howes & Synnott, 1994). These practices persist because aromatic pairing strengthens emotional recall (Herz, 2016) and supports cultural continuity (Assmann, 2011).
Kinetic: Topical interaction paired with kinetic objects becomes mechanical‑surface interaction. Movement, glide, detangling, and pressure influence muscle tension, fiber friction, and scalp comfort (Kjær, 2004; Robbins, 2012). Cultural systems use body and hair movement in care rituals because mechanical interaction supports healing (Kjær, 2004) and reinforces communal and personal meaning (Csordas, 1990).
Taste does not transform topical interaction (Small, 2012).
