A desk figure with a natural fruit shell body, three eyes in blue, mint green felt fins, and a bright green felt mouth. A springy antenna on his head carries a green star charm, a green checkered cube, and small nut shells. A braided blue and yellow cord wraps the bottom edge of the shell.
The textured shell body gives the hand a rough surface to hold, and the springy antenna moves when touched. Grounding-oriented profiles are characterized by a need for continuous, familiar, or consistent somatosensory information to stay aware of the physical body and the present moment (Dunn, 2001). A textured nut shell figure best fits the preference for carrying an object and rubbing or handling it. Objects like this offer continuous somatosensory input through surface texture, geometry, and thermal properties (McGlone et al., 2014), and consistent input helps people with low registration remain physically oriented within their environment (Dunn, 2001).
The Sess Parker pinecone emblem represents nature’s perfect mathematics—a reminder that true grounding occurs where deliberate, architectural design meets raw sensory life.
