Engage Cypress Incense

The handcrafted Engage incense is solid compressed botanical powder made from cypress, agarwood and sandalwood with an elm bark binder. Each of the 25 sticks measures 8.3 inches (21 cm) and burns 30–40 minutes.

Cypress gives a green, woody scent that suits a variety of routines, including work sessions, study hours, creative projects and meditation, and your favorite places such as your desk, home office or reading nook.

Aroma activates the olfactory and limbic systems, creating spatial and emotional clarity (Herz, 2016) used to define identity, intention, and environment (Classen, Howes & Synnott, 1994). This experience reduces vigilance, making our emotions more stable (McEwen, 2007); it supports mood regulation (Panksepp, 1998), and strengthens cultural belonging (Assmann, 2011).

Pairing Note

Visual: Aroma paired with visual objects becomes cross-modal interpretation. Objects with an aroma become defined sensory cues: their color, form, and presentation shape how the aroma is understood (Lakoff, 1987). Visual–aroma integration strengthens affective response—enhancing pleasure when the scent is preferred and intensifying dislike when it is not (Juslin & Västfjäll, 2008). These responses support memory formation and make the moment easier to recall (Herz, 2016).
